Why street cats get so many names
A friendly street cat often has several. The baker calls it one thing, the family upstairs another, and the kids on the corner a third. It answers to all of them, as long as food is involved.
Names help, too. Once a cat has a name, people notice it. They notice when it’s missing, when it looks thin, or when it turns up with a kitten in tow. That’s how neighbours start looking after a street’s cats together.
